RTR AND GRP PIPE INSTALLATION
RTR (Reinforced Thermosetting Resin) and GRP (Glass Reinforced Polymer) pipe installation involves trench excavation, bedding, pipe laying, joining, and backfilling, with careful attention to compaction and potential deflection. RTR and GRP pipes are commonly used in industrial and water distribution applications.
Installation Steps
- Trench Excavation: Excavate trenches, ensuring stable sides and dewatering if necessary.
- Bedding: Prepare the trench bottom with bedding material to support the pipe and distribute loads.
- Laying: Lay the pipe in the trench, ensuring proper alignment and grade.
- Joining: Connect pipe sections using appropriate couplings or methods, which can include adhesive bonding or push-fitting.
- Backfilling and Compaction: Gradually backfill the trench with compacted soil, starting with the pipe crown, and ensuring proper compaction to prevent deflection.
- Topsoil Restoration: Replace the topsoil excavated first.
Joining Methods
- Couplings: GRP pipes can be joined using GRP double-bell couplings with elastomeric gaskets.
- Adhesive Bonding: RTR pipes can be joined using adhesive bonding with tape wrapping and curing.
- Push-fitting: RTR pipes can be joined by push-fitting a spigot portion into a socket portion, injecting a joining compound, and curing.
